Complete cookie information

Under article 13 of European Regulation no. 679/2016 (Regulation on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data), Cotril S.p.a. (hereafter "Cotril" or the "Company") provides you with the following information on the cookies installed on the domain (hereinafter the "Site") or other domains accessible via the Site.

What are cookies?

Cookies are strings of text that web sites visited by users memorise on the hard disk of your computer or other device used to access the Internet (smartphone, tablet), sending them back to the same web sites the next time the user accesses the Internet. Cookies may be stored permanently on the user’s computer for a variable amount of time (referred to as persistent cookies), or they may disappear when the user closes the browser, or be of limited duration (referred to as session cookies).
Cookies may be installed on the web site you are visiting (referred to as first-party cookies) or they may be installed by other web sites (referred to as third-party cookies), and are used to perform actions such as logging on, monitoring sessions and memorising information on the activity of users who access the site.

Cookies are classified as:

  • Browsing and functional cookies: these cookies are used for logging on and for improving your user experience, respectively (e.g. by memorising your preferred language)
  • Analytic cookies: used by the web site operator to collect information on users who visit the site
  • Advertising cookies: used to send messages in line with users’ preferences collected as they browse the internet.
  • Social cookies: used to permit interaction with social networks.

On the basis of current Italian legislation, users are not required to explicitly accept use of cookies identified as "technical cookies", that is, cookies intended exclusively to send communications over an electronic communication network.

According to the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati; cf. General Order entitled "Identification of simplified methods for cookie notice and acquisition of consent to use of cookies - 8 May 2014"), the following types of cookie are considered technical:

  • Analytic cookies, if used directly by the site operator to collect information on the number of users and how they visit the site in aggregate, anonymous form
  • browsing and functional cookies

Under current Italian legislation, prior consent is required for installation of profiling cookies.
For this reason, when you access the Site, a banner is displayed informing you that profiling cookies are used and that, by closing the banner, scrolling on the landing page or clicking on any element in the page outside of the banner (such as an image or a link), you consent to use of these cookies.

How does Cotril use cookies?

Browsing and functional cookies
Cotril uses browsing and functional cookies on the Site to permit safe, efficient browsing and use of the Site and to improve the service provided by the Site. The browsing and functional cookies used by Cotril on the Site are "technical" cookies.

Analytic cookies
Cotril uses analytic cookies on the Site, including third-party cookies, to collect information on how users use the Site (number of visitors, pages visited, time spent on the site, conversions, etc.). Tools are adopted in the use of analytic cookies which reduce their power to identify users and prevent cross-referencing of information collected using these cookies with any information third-party platforms may already have in their possession. The analytic cookies used by Cotril on the Site are "technical" cookies.

Advertising cookies
Cotril uses advertising cookies, including third-party cookies, to directly or indirectly send promotional messages in line with users’ browsing preferences. The advertising cookies used by Cotril on the Site are "profiling cookies".

Social cookies
Cotril does not use social cookies which permit users to interact with social networks by sharing content.

Advertising cookies and social cookies
Italian personal data protection legislation requires users’ prior consent to use of profiling advertising cookies and social cookies. When you access any page on the Site, a banner will therefore appear containing a brief notice informing users of how profiling cookies are accepted. If you close this banner or continue browsing by accessing another part of the Site or selecting an element on the Site (such as an image or a link), you consent to use of advertising cookies and social cookies and authorise Cotril to acquire and store profiling data. To inhibit advertising cookies and social cookies, users may make use of the disabling methods specific to their internet browser or explicitly withhold consent to their use by clicking on this option and confirming their preferences.
